Seven spirits found in the church.
I see the seven churches of book of revelations on an individual level:
The Intellectual
The first is a person is hardworking, persevering, using an even hand and walking a straight path but needing to renew the passion from when they first believed and truly experience the foretaste of glory given through the Holy Spirit. They can be people who are good at testing and protecting against false teaching but neglect the leading of the Spirit and the heart. e.g. Solomon.
The Sufferer
The second is a person who has suffered and hit absolute bottom but has kept a faith in God’s keeping them from harm, resurrecting, and restoring them from their circumstances. e.g. Job.
The Zealot
The third is a person filled with the word of GOD< PEOPLE WHO LIVE< FIGHT AND DIE (socially, financially, emotionally, and physically) by God’s truth. They must resist sin and false teaching and enticing others with it. God gives these people special revelation. e.g. the old Testament prophets, and Paul.
The Leader
The fourth person is a one who leads out of love and is an example of faith; and follows with continuing service. Those who mislead others, abuse or use their position for their own benefit, or fall into immorality will be held accountable. Those who do God’s will are given more authority and guidance from God. e.g. David and Moses.
The Prideful
The fifth person is one who is prideful and concerned with outward appearances and reputation but can be redeemed through repentance and obedience. Their glory lies in Jesus. e.g. Pharisees.
The Tested
The sixth is a person whose life is filled with trials and testing but through strength and endurance holds and keeps God’s word and commands, and receives his promises and rewards in this life or after death. e.g. Abraham, NOAH< JOSEPH AND THE PEOPLE IN THE BOOK OF Hebrews hall of faith.
The Lukewarm
The last person is a wealthy person who is a comfortable, lukewarm Christian. GOD REBUKES< DISCIPLINES< AND REFINES HIM IN HOPES HE WILL OVERCOME AND BECOME A TRUE WITNESS OF Christ. There seems to be more examples in the Bible of not overcoming—such as the rich man who ignored Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31), and the rich man who wouldn’t give all his possessions to the poor and follow Jesus.
Which of these spirits are you? I see myself as a Zealot who is in a season of a Sufferer.
