Renewal of the mind.

It’s not a sin to have thoughts and emotions, but what we choose to do with them can lead to sin: either through dwelling on them or making the wrong choice on how to act on them. We should cast all our thoughts (and emotions) upon Christ. He will transform us so that we don’t have that thought or emotion anymore, or He will guide us in our decision on how to act on that thought or emotion. God may also use that bit of suffering, that results from a re-occurring thought or emotion, as an ongoing catalyst for us to continue to rely on and turn to Him.

Jimmy Evans, in a recent television interview, said the Bible is a two edged sword, one side for using against the enemy and the other a scalpel used for the renewal of our mind. We memorize, ponder and meditate on the Bible and it renews our mind. We combat attacks—thoughts from the enemy—by recalling scriptures we have memorized, because God and his Word are more powerful than any thought or attack from the enemy.
